Textile firms drop SBTi scope 3 commitments

LONDON – More than 40 fashion retailers and textile and clothing manufacturers have had their Science Based Targets initiative-approved (SBTi) net-zero commitments removed after it emerged that previously agreed scope 3 reduction targets were considered too difficult to meet.

The list struggling with scope 3 emissions, which refers to emissions in the supply chain such as energy usage by product manufacturing and supply chain partners, includes high profile retailers such as Gap, M&S, Prada, New Look, Mulberry and s.Oliver.
