Transformers Foundation proposes indigo dyeing benchmark

Denim industry non-profit, the Transformers Foundation has put forward proposals on a new benchmark for water usage during the indigo dyeing process.

This new reference, contained in the organisation’s latest report, ‘A reference for water consumption during indigo dyeing’, is said to be the first-ever standardised benchmark for water usage in the colouring of denim warps, and is aimed at offering much-needed data against a backdrop of highly variable and often unsubstantiated environmental claims from both manufacturers and brands.
