Brands choose low prices over living wage – report

New report says fashion brands such as Zara, H&M, and Primark are still squeezing T-shirt prices to unsustainable levels, putting labour conditions and living wages under further pressure

LAUSANNE/AMSTERDAM – Fashion brands continue to neglect labour conditions by keeping manufacturing prices of cotton t-shirts at unsustainably low levels that do not account for inflation, a new report says.

Human rights NGO Public Eye and Clean Clothes Campaign say that, taking global inflation into account, companies buy a cotton T-shirt for half the value it had 25 years ago.
