New research calls for standardised gin-level records and deeper relationships with cotton-growing communities
PARIS — Cotton brands can often trace fibre only to a country or region despite much of the underlying farm-origin data already being recorded at ginning facilities, according to new research from Cotton Diaries.
The fourth instalment of the initiative's five-year Who Made My Cotton? study, published today, argues that information gathered at gins rarely moves downstream to traders, mills and brands.
