Texas demands data from Hanes and Fruit of the Loom for probe into potentially hazardous substances in children’s clothing
AUSTIN – Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has opened a formal investigation into major children’s clothing brands, targeting Hanes and Fruit of the Loom, over the potential presence of toxic chemicals in children’s apparel and undergarments.
The investigation escalates regulatory scrutiny for the apparel sector. It follows Paxton’s high-profile probe and subsequent lawsuit against global fast-fashion giant Shein over unethical labour practices, data privacy concerns, and alleged toxic chemical presence in low-cost garments.
