Europe’s chemical recycling sector requires a major funding boost if it is to fulfil its potential and compete with the virgin plastics production, according to a new report.

The report from market analysts Bain & Company suggests €400 billion in cumulative capital expenditure could bring the recycling sector up to cost parity with the virgin plastics industry within the next 20-30 years.
