Industry voices gathering in Brussels for new event debate the path forward for textile waste and recycling reforms
BRUSSELS – Delegates at the inaugural Textiles Recycling Expo in Brussels have welcomed the European Union’s (EU) upcoming regulatory push for circularity in textiles but cautioned that implementation must prioritise both quality and practical detail.
Aurel Ciobanu–Dordea, director for circular economy at the European Commission, opened the event by reassuring the sector that the introduction of mandatory extended producer responsibility (EPR) schemes would be adopted in every member state before the end of the year.
