Researchers forecast potential reduced CO2 and water impacts of increasing textile-to-textile recycling rates to 10% in Europe

BRUSSELS - Increasing textile-to-textile recycling rates to 10% in the European Union (EU) could save 440,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year and 8.8 billion cubic metres of water, says a new study.

Current levels of textile-to-textile recycling are only around 1% globally, according to Textile Exchange's Materials Market Report 2024.
