Investment boost for synthetic leather firm

NEW YORK – Bio-based materials manufacturer TômTex has secured $2.25 million in its latest round of seed funding which it will use to scale up the production of its food waste-based, synthetic leather fabric.

Industry backers include Happiness Capital, who led the round, US-based venture capital firm SOSV, environmental non-profit Parley for the Oceans, and MIH Capital.
