H&M: €1 million for eco-fashion innovations
 The H&M Conscious Foundation has launched a new €1 million prize for eco-innovations working to 'close the loop' in the fashion industry. Five winners of the first Global Change Award, chosen by a jury, will share a grant of €1 million and get access to industry support to further develop their ideas.

Study makes bio-tech cotton/suicide link
 
New research has – not for the first time - linked farmer suicides in India with the adoption of biotech (Bt) cotton. The contentious research suggests the costs of Bt seed and insecticide raise the risk of farmer bankruptcy in low-yield rain-fed cotton areas, while the inability to "use saved seed and inadequate agronomic information trap cotton farmers on biotechnology and insecticide treadmills."

The Marcia Bernicat, the US Ambassador to Bangladesh, has said the US and other governments, as well as apparel brands and retailers have an important role to play in helping to strengthen the garment sector of Bangladesh by ensuring worker rights and safety.
