SHANGHAI – At the on-going Intertextile Apparel Fabrics exhibition here in China, Japanese textile chemicals and fibres giant Asahi Kasei told Ecotextile News it is offering two new solutions to help apparel manufacturers solve a ‘big headache’ when it comes to lowering the environmental impact of using 100 per cent synthetic-based spandex (elastane) fibres.
And the company claims a clear surge in interest from visitors to its booth in its ‘Eco-Smart’ version of its well-known ‘Roica’ branded elastane fibres that are certified according to the Global Recycled Standard – and made using up to 50 per cent pre-consumer waste. Tommy Lee reports from China.
